Description:
The Red Discosoma Mushroom Coral is a classic and hardy soft coral known for its deep, rich red colouration and smooth, velvety texture. Its simplicity and bold colour make it an excellent choice for adding warmth and contrast to any reef aquarium. When illuminated under blue or actinic lighting, the coral glows with a striking crimson hue that enhances the visual appeal of both mixed reefs and dedicated soft coral systems.

This species is exceptionally hardy and adaptable, making it ideal for both beginner and experienced aquarists. Over time, Red Discosomas can form attractive colonies, spreading across rockwork and creating a vibrant, living carpet of colour.

Feeding & Nutrition:

The Red Discosoma is primarily photosynthetic, deriving most of its energy from its symbiotic zooxanthellae. It can, however, benefit from occasional feeding with fine particulate foods or coral microplankton to encourage growth and propagation.

Notes:

• Adaptable to a range of lighting conditions but prefers low to moderate light.

• Can spread to form a colourful mat over rock surfaces.

• Avoid strong, direct flow which may cause detachment.

• Excellent beginner coral and ideal for nano tanks or soft coral systems.
