Orange Hammer (Euphyllia paraancora)

Description:
The Orange Hammer Coral is a striking and highly sought-after LPS coral known for its vibrant orange and golden tones that glow beautifully under actinic and blue-spectrum lighting. Its distinctive hammer-shaped tentacles gently sway with the current, adding natural movement and a radiant burst of color to your reef. This branching variety of Euphyllia is aquacultured for resilience, ensuring an easier transition and long-term success in home aquariums.

Perfect as a centerpiece or accent coral, the Orange Hammer’s glowing, sunset-like hues make it an exceptional addition for reef keepers seeking a rare and colorful showpiece.

Care Level: Easy to Moderate
Temperament: Semi-aggressive (can extend sweeper tentacles at night)
Placement: Mid to lower areas of the tank with space to expand and avoid contact with neighboring corals.

Feeding & Nutrition:

The Orange Hammer Coral hosts symbiotic zooxanthellae that provide much of its nutrition through photosynthesis. It will, however, thrive and display even richer coloration when fed small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or coral-specific micro foods once or twice weekly.

Notes:

  • Allow several inches of space between the coral and others to prevent stings from sweeper tentacles.

  • Prefers stable, mature reef conditions and moderate water movement.

  • Avoid placing under intense direct light; moderate blue lighting enhances its orange glow.

  • Can be kept with other Euphyllia species (hammer, torch, frogspawn) if properly spaced.
