Yurple Tang

The Yurple Tang is a remarkable hybrid between the Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens) and Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurum), bringing together characteristics of two of the marine hobby’s most iconic tangs.

Rarely encountered in the aquarium trade, the Yurple Tang is prized by experienced marine aquarists and collectors for its unusual combination of colouration and distinctive appearance. Individual specimens can display a fascinating blend of yellow, purple and intermediate tones, with pattern and colour distribution varying from fish to fish.

Beyond its exceptional appearance, the Yurple Tang has the active nature and grazing behaviour associated with Zebrasoma tangs. A mature aquarium with ample swimming space, established live rock and regular access to marine algae and seaweed is recommended.
